Dawn Armfield is an accomplished engineering and business operations executive, strategic thought leader and CEO of ValueFlo Consulting, a firm specializing in the application of Toyota Production System thinking as it was intended. Dawn has been on her lean journey for over 30 years, being trained/vetted in this paradigm changing philosophy by “Sensei’s” linking all the way back to Taiichi Ohno. Her focus has been on delivering business process excellence through skilled application of lean thinking to facilitate achievement of enterprise goals.
A strong believer in developing people, leading with trust & respect and building strong teams during the process of making things better, Dawn has facilitated &/or lead hundreds of Kaizen events dealing with both management business process improvement and workplace improvement events in which teams were put together to solve problems & transform work processes.
Dawn’s philosophy is that “paying it forward” is the responsibility of those who have been given expert knowledge, which she passes on as an avid LinkedIn writer/contributor to the “Lean Body of Knowledge” by mixing her professional experiences into her articles, posts & creative endeavors. She greatly enjoys teaching, coaching and mentoring others in their professional growth. Dawn holds a BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering, and an MBA Finance and Operations from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, MI).
A proven leader in business transformation, Dawn’s most recent engagement was as the Interim Chief Operating Officer for a high-growth textiles manufacturing organization in Wisconsin. She led the reorganization of the company, achieving the objective of “Right Person, Right Seat” via organizational design, recruiting, coaching and development of personnel. She established a Design and Manufacturing Engineering group, implemented Engineering and Quality systems, and oversaw the implementation of numerous product quality and shop floor improvements. Under her leadership, the organization went from unprofitable to profitable in less than six months and landed three major distribution customers. At the time of her hand-off to internal leaders, the organization was on target to achieve profitable, fifty-percent year-over-year growth in 2021.
Dawn is a sought-after speaker and trainer in the areas of lean transformation, change management and leadership. She has been a guest speaker for many professional organizations.
