Topic: Turning Data Into Dollars
Date: Wednesday, 10 March 2021
Presenter: Jay Arthur
Time: 12:00PM to 1:00PM CDT
About the Topic: While quality professionals often talk about “low-hanging fruit” it can be surprisingly hard to find. That’s because the most valuable low-hanging fruit is often invisible, hiding raw data about the number and types of defects. To find and fix these types of problems, you will need a tool that is rarely taught in Six Sigma trainings, an Excel PivotTable. PivotTables can summarize raw data in ways that allow the creation of control charts and Pareto charts that illuminate the invisible low-hanging fruit. Every business has three types of problems: simple, uncomplicated and complicated ones. Simple problems can be fixed without tools. Complicated problems are sometimes just a constellation of uncomplicated problems. The vast majority of these problems are uncomplicated in nature, but require data and the magnificent seven power tools of quality for solution. Used in the right way at the right time, these tools can eliminate the three silent killers of productivity and profitability: delay, defects and deviation. Isn’t it time to start learning how to start turning data into dollars?
