Are you curious about data science or analytics and how you can acquire such skills?

In this presentation, Dr. Fang Zhou will share his experience of learning, teaching, and applying data analytics in the past 5 years. Twenty-five years after receiving his degree in Chemical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, he earned his second one, a Master of Science in Analytics (MSA) in 2019. To continue his learning, he has been working as part-time faculty supporting the online MSA program since 2020. The audience will learn about the following and have time for questions.

  • The value of hands-on data analytics skills for individuals and organizations

  • Challenges and opportunities for working professionals to gain analytics skills

  • Degree and non-degree programs in data analytics

  • Tips on navigating the learning journey from the student and instructor's perspectives


Presenter Bio:

A scientist/engineer by training, Dr. Fang Zhou has worked over 20 years in the life sciences R&D, manufacturing, quality, continuous improvement, and management consulting. He is a certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt and has designed and delivered training in Lean, Six Sigma, and Design for Quality and Manufacturability for Global Fortune 500 companies. He is currently the vice-chair of the ASQ Raleigh section and has been the chair of their Six Sigma and Life Sciences Special Interest Groups for the past few years.
