Dr. Krishnamoorthi will cover the definition of reliability, how reliability is quantified using probability, and how reliability of equipment or a production line can be calculated from failure data. He will explain the meaning of Mortality Rate, a.k.a.
Hazard Function and explain how it can be calculated and plotted to get the Bathtub Curve. The usefulness of the B-T curve will be explained as to how it reveals the nature of failures of the equipment under study and provides clues to
improving reliability of the equipment. In addition, Dr. Krish will briefly go over some of the commonly used terms relative to reliability: Exponential Distribution, MTTF, MTBF, Weibull Distribution, Weibull analysis, accelerated testing, reliability apportioning, and others the audience may propose..
About:
Dr. Krish will be completing 40 years of teaching at Bradley at the end of this year, teaching mostly
engineering statistics and quality engineering. Besides teaching, he has provided consulting help to
several area manufacturing companies in improving process quality and product quality using statistical
tools.
