Creating Online ISO 9001:2015 Management and Auditing course
I am looking for some participation in a Project I am currently developing. I hope this request is appropriate for this thread.

Hello, My Name is Richard Tanner and I have been in quality in one capacity or another for the past 20 years. I now have an itch to teach what I know and have learned over the years. One thing I have learned the best projects are done within a team - with participation from others. Why? Our perspectives tend to be one-sided and others bring to the table things each of us either never thought about or forgot over the years as we grew comfortable in our roles.

I am putting together an online course on managing and auditing to ISO 9001:2015. Though I have taught this many times over the years face to face - online is different. In a classroom setting there is this immediate interaction (should be) with the students. If one wants more emphasis on a particular topic he/she gets it. Or they want coverage on a related topic - they get it. (For the most part).

So, my request is that I get some volunteers to put together a one minute video speaking about what they would like to be covered, emphasized, feel is missing from your typical course on this subject.

If you are interested, Let me know and I will send you more info: video guidelines, order of topic discussion, etc... (With your permission I will use these videos as part of my intro to the course as well as to tailor the course to these specifics you cover.

Not only will I be addressing the standard and its requirements, I will also endeavor to go in-depth in certain areas I feel are lacking based on my experience.

Richard,

I'm always willing to collaborate on a project.
Would you email me and lets talk about some options?

hi Richard, i am somebody who is not much exposed to ISO 9001:2015; wanted to understand at what level is this training going to be ? i might ask some very basic questions that could disinterest others
i am keen but at the same time wanted to be sure of the level of audience expected
Hello Rajesh,

Send me your contact info and I will be more than glad to discuss your concerns and/or questions.

Thanks,
Richard Tanner
Good Morning.
I want to let you know that I am interested in the proposed topic.

Greetings.

I would be interested in this discussion.
An on-line course or classroom is part of the learning, but the way to really get experience and be a good auditor is to conduct an audit(s) with guidance from an experienced auditor.  How would you propose a prospective auditor to get the next level of training after the out-of-the-book time?

I agree there is nothing that beats hands on, especially when you have the opportunity to join up with an experienced auditor. What I have done and encourage others to do is to join a SIG group. For instance, DFW has an audit SIG group of experienced and newbie auditors that come together once a month. They learn from each other and further they offer free internal audits to companies in the area. This allows not only the accumulation of required hours but the hands on experience with an senior auditor overseeing and teaching.

If your section does not offer this - I would go to them and see about starting such.

Great response everybody. I sent each of you that indicated you wanted to participate a PM requesting contact info so we can begin to discuss offline in further detail the next steps. I sent you my contact info as well.

Thanks,
Richard Tanner

On the topic of auditing experience one way I have gained some experience is doing supplier audits from our companies supply chain. It fills an ISO requirement to evaluate your suppliers and gives you valuable experience even if it is not an official ISO audit. Just tailor the audits to structure for ISO 9001. You can even take along your internal auditors from other departments to get them more exposure to the way other companies work.
Sounds like a very interesting project, Richard.

Where would someone be able to sign up for your class after you've completed it?

Ray
I am using the Moodle platform. Once course is ready, then there would be a sign-in for each client to access the modules and test.
In my case, we would post the course on the SourceAmerica Academy site. We can make it available to both internal and external customers.

Good morning Richard,

If I can contribute in some way, I would be happy to.  I have been involved with ISO 9001 and Lean/Six Sigma as Management Rep and Black Belt for quite a while, though with some gaps.  brianlloyd70@gmail.com

Hello Mr. Tanner,

Thank you for the opportunity to participate in this course.  I'm interested in learning and understanding the process of internal auditing.  Usually, internal auditors receive a high-level training course to get certified but skills as an auditor are not fully learned and developed.

Would your course cover this area?

Thanks,
Mynor Aguirre
I would also like to participate in performing audits if they can be planned locally (Atlanta area).
Hi Richard,

I am interested,

Best Regards

This is my aim, hence the reason I wanted these videos to incorporate into the intro as a way to let the target audience know that some one is listening and as gage as to help me understand more of what the target audience wants. I remember once after I had someone else train my internal auditors since I was busy taking care of multiple plants in this regard. I gave them their assignments for the audit and dismissed the meeting. They all looked at me like a deer in the headlights. This is when I realized not only did I need to step up my game but that the practical aspects was severely lacking when it came to ISO and auditing training.
Hello all,

Wanted to follow-up with those who said they were interested in creating and providing a video in reference to my initial request. As a reminder I have sent via this platform each a PM. I have receive at most 3 e-mails In which I was able to send details to. Waiting response from others.

Once I have at least 6 videos (maybe +2) That will be it.

As for the free access to the course - to clarify, that will be to only those who participate in creating the videos.

This course is under development and target date for completion is by mid to end of January 2020.

Feel free to contact me at Richard.tanner@gmx.com and/or call me at 817-357-9011 with any questions.
