Biography – Tom Hall
Tom has a PhD in Physics from UW Madison, but has spent most of his career working as a Quality Engineer, Supervisor or Manager for Parker Pen in Janesville, Amerock in Rockford or MedPlast in Elkhorn, WI. He retired from his day job a few years ago, and is currently teaching Physics and sometimes Astronomy at the Rock County campus of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. He is very grateful to the members of section 1205 for all the help, support and friendship they have offered over many years.

Tom will discuss some statistical rules of thumb and concepts that can give you insight into statistical questions before you go to your favorite statistical software. There’s an old adage, ”Never do a (detailed) calculation until you know what the answer is”. But how can you know what the answer is without doing the calculation? That’s what we’ll be talking about. Plus, if you qualify multiple cavity tools, there’s a suggestion that could save a ton of work.
