The recent disaster in Kelowna indicates a need for the industry to mange better. I am sure that other jurisdictions like Vancouver have something in place already. Currently I have advised Kelowna city council that it would be in the cities best interest to invoke a Quality Management requirement like ISO 9001 program for companies doing construction work here. In the past I have been providing leadership by implementing ISO programs and conducting audits for many years beginning in 1987 with Western Star ( the first truck manufacturer in North America to achieve an ISO certification.) I have at least 35 years quality management experience (including with 4 Canadian Military contracts) as well have branched into home and commercial building inspection. I am afraid that this Crane disaster should not have happened and shall not happen again. I would like your support in that regard to working with the Construction Industry ,cities and municipalities to make that happen.
