A colleague called this morning with an AS9102 question. I shared my opinion with him, but thought I would post his question here so others could weigh in on it:
"I have a question regarding the interpretation of filling out AS9102 forms when it pertains to hardware such as NAS1097AD4-3. Is the hardware required to be on Form 1 if it is an assembly, since that is a Conditionally Required item on Form 1? Our company puts it on Form 2, which is also conditionally required. I am needing to know if the intent of AS9102 is to document it on Form 1 only and not Form 2, or is documenting it either place acceptable."
Thanks in advance to everyone for your feedback.
Peggy

Hi Peggy , Usually when i full fill the AS9102 forms, the sub-assemblies are listed in the form 1. In the form 2 are listed the raw materials to manufacture the part you are validating.
Also in the AS9102B in the instructions of the field numbers at point 6, it is written as " NOTE: Non-modified standard catalogue items are listed on Form 1".
You are talking of NAS part hardware which is based on a standard catalogue. I will just only put it in Form 1.
Anyway i would like to have also a copy of Juan training.

Yes, Form 1 is for listing hardware and manufactured parts/sub-assemblies for an Assembly FAI.
Form 2 for an Assembly would only cover any processing done to that assembly, such as prime/paint, anodize, etc. at the assembly level (not the detailed part level). Raw material would not be included here, as it would be documented on the detail part FAI Form 2.
