Message from the Chair – December 2021

“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart. Wishing you happiness.”

- Helen Keller

Season’s Greetings All!!

Fresh snowfall and plunging temperatures remind us it is the holiday season. I hope you take the time to relax and enjoy it with family and friends; and give thanks for the blessings in your life. While there will not be a December monthly meeting, the Section Leadership Committee (SLC) will be busy working on the leadership transition into 2022. It is my goal to ensure the new section officers have a smooth transition into the new year as we continue to pursue Excellence Through Quality.

During this process I took a moment to reflect on the last two years. It has been an honor and privilege to serve you all as the Grand Rapids Section Chair. I am grateful for the support, patience, and understanding the section members have shown me and I was blessed to have a phenomenal team of engaged volunteers in the SLC to keep the section viable and always striving to provide the highest possible member value, even during this unforeseen pandemic. Hopefully my tenure has enhanced and improved our great section and I look forward to the next leadership team creating an even more vibrant Grand Rapids Section. I simply want to say thank you all for giving me the opportunity to serve you and I appreciate everything you have done to support me, especially during the most difficult times, Thank You!

The next scheduled ASQ Presents! meeting will be January 13, 2022. We launch the year with a virtual only meeting as we learn about “Naval Maintenance and Aircraft Quality” from Vinny Phleger. You won’t want to miss this unique event! We will return to the hybrid meeting format in February 2022, learning about “Hop Creep Potential in Packaged Beer” presented by Lauren Torres from Bell’s Brewery.

The Section Leadership Committee (SLC) is in the process of identifying a new dinner meeting location. If you have ideas or suggestions for new venues, or want to improve our monthly meetings, please contact the section email, asqsection1001@gmail.com or post to our Facebook page, ASQ Grand Rapids Section 1001. Please don’t hesitate to volunteer your input because we need it to provide the highest quality product for our members as we pursue Knowledge – Networking – Opportunities for the quality professionals in West Michigan.

Thank you for supporting the Grand Rapids Section!

Ken Phillips,

Chair Grand Rapids Section 1001
