Message from the Chair – July 2020
“Once you choose hope, anything is possible.”

Happy Summer Grand Rapids Members & Friends!!
I hope you are taking time to enjoy the unusually warm weather with your family and friends and revitalizing your soul with time away from work and much needed vacation.  I also trust you all are safe and healthy.  Because you receive daily COVID-19 updates, I am not going to discuss the pandemic, but instead offer a message of hope.  The hope is to return to business as usual, with socially responsible meetings.  Although the ASQ ban on face to face meetings continues through the month of August, the Section Leadership Committee is making plans for dinner meetings in the next program year.  Since the COVID-19 outbreak, our section has learned new skills utilizing social media, hosting Zoom Meeting presentations by Dave Osborn and Kurt Stuke.  These meetings provided attendees with the ability to gain Knowledge – Networking – Opportunities while earning RU credits.  The meetings may look different with a mix of “live” speakers and webinars, but we plan to hold meetings on our normal second Thursday of the month schedule.  The lineup for the next year program year starting in September promises to be a good one; with favorites like Mark Rusco and the SLC is also working on a much-requested plant tour!  Once the 2020-2021 program is confirmed, it will be mailed to the membership and sent in an email.
Please take this opportunity to confirm your email and postal addresses are current in your ASQ profile to assure you receive this important information.
In today’s world of failing businesses and rampant unemployment, the Grand Rapids Section Leadership Committee is pleased to have been able to offer meetings and maintain communication to provide you member value during this challenging time.  Please join us in September as we pursue Excellence Through Quality and we encourage anyone interested in getting involved with the leadership committee to make your interest known.  The SLC would like to thank you for being active members of our great section and I look forward to seeing you again in September!!

Stay Safe, Ken Phillips, Chair Grand Rapids Section 1001
