Quality Engineer at Stratasys. I support consumable products for 3D printers. I am a person with many hats including managing projects to support AS9100 certification and merging of facilities.
Is there a teacher or mentor who influenced you more than others?
I’ve been blessed with having great mentors throughout my career. One that stands out is my previous manager and friend, Pat Rudd, who encouraged me to use my strengths yet venture outside my comfort zone.
How were you introduced to the quality field?
When I switched from the biotech to the chemical industry in 2008, I worked in a quality lab for a few years. Although, I enjoyed it, I was not challenged enough. I eventually moved back into R&D. When I moved to MN, there was opportunity to go in different directions with my career. I chose to work as a Quality Engineer and absolutely love it and there is no shortage of challenges!
What is the best career advice you have received?
- Be confident, yet humble- One I use most frequently
- Find a mentor, be a mentor- Connect with those who will help you grow and support others so they can achieve their best.
I am currently the Volunteer Chair for the 2021 MN Quality Conference. It’s been a unique experience working with a great team of volunteers. It’s coming up in a few weeks and I’m excited for the event.
How has being a MNASQ member been valuable in your career?
Network of expertise, resources, and certifications that have helped me with my career.
What brought you to or keeps you in the Minnesota region?
My family and I moved to MN 4 years ago because of the job market and a great place to raise a family. We love it and are here to stay.
What activities or achievements outside of ASQ do you think are noteworthy?
I consider myself a lifelong learner and am constantly setting new goals for myself. I have a Six Sigma Black Belt, Certified Quality Auditor, and Certified Quality Engineer. I am now working on my next goal of becoming a Project Management Professional.
What are your favorite ways to relax?
Surprisingly, running or biking are one of my favorites ways to relax and destress. Otherwise, lounging with a good Netflix series.
