Chair’s Message- April 2020

The ASQ Phoenix Section leadership wants to assure you that we are monitoring the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation closely and are working to ensure we meet the needs of our members as well as provide for the health and safety of our volunteers. This unprecedented health situation is changing quickly and has already been disruptive to many businesses across the globe.
UPDATE: ASQ has just directed its member units to cancel all face-to-face meetings through the end of August 2020. The ASQ Phoenix Section will re-schedule its Cranial Technologies tour, and transition its April – August monthly Program meetings to 100% virtual (WebEx).
- The annual World Conference on Quality & Improvement, slated for early May in Columbus, OH has been canceled.
- All ASQ Training classroom courses scheduled for April – August have been canceled.
- Certification Exams: ASQ’s testing partner Prometric has determined it is necessary and appropriate to temporarily close all Prometric testing centers in the United States and Canada for a period of 30 days, starting March 18. Prometric will re-visit whether to extend the closings beyond mid-April.

In these times of “social distancing”, every member of ASQ is encouraged to create a profile on the new myASQ community site. (https://my.asq.org/home). First-time visitors will need to log in using their asq.org login credentials. myASQ brings together, in one collaboration space, links to all the news and events from ASQ HQ, Divisions, Forums and Sections that you are currently a member of (i.e. a one-stop-shop).

Click on the link above to register. WebEx will send you a confirmation email with an event password. WebEx will also send you a reminder email with a green “Join” button and event password reminder prior to the start of the Program.
The Cisco WebEx desktop app will automatically download and install the first time the user clicks on a WebEx meeting “Join” link.
WebEx also offers a free smartphone app that can be downloaded from Google Play or the App Store.
Member Experience Survey:
A key initiative of the Phoenix Section, and the entire ASQ Mountain Region, is to survey our members to collect their feedback on the level of their satisfaction with Section member experience. The Section leadership team wants to know more about your expectations of being a section member: what is important to you and how well are we doing to deliver on those expectations. This comprehensive anonymous survey instrument is currently in development with input from each Mountain Region's Section Voice of Customer Chairs. Our goal is to launch the survey in mid-May. Your feedback is very important to us and will serve as a critical input to our 2021 Strategic Planning process. The Section leadership team is brainstorming ideas to incentivize and encourage your participation. I am hopeful for a 30% or better response rate from our members.
In preparation for the pending survey, I humbly ask every Phoenix Section member to please review your member profile in asq.org to be certain your email address is correct, and to please “opt-in” to receive communications from the Section. Please take this action now so you don’t forget. (You can always go back and change your preference to “opt-out” after you have received the survey email).
I look forward to a year of renewal and growth for the Phoenix section and our members. I value your feedback and would love to hear your ideas for an enhanced & satisfying member experience (email@example.com).
