Manitoba Section September 2021 Program Meeting
Published
The upcoming Manitoba Section program meeting and knowledge sharing session is planned on 22nd September 2021 between 6 - 7.30 pm. Our next program meeting speaker is Jane Weitzel, who has been an analytical chemist for over 40 years for pharmaceutical and mining companies. Jane has applied quality systems and statistical techniques, including the evaluation and use of measurement uncertainty, in a wide variety of technical and scientific businesses.
Title of the presentation: Fit-for-Intended-Use, what does that mean for you?
Industries use measurement results to make decisions. How can you design, confirm, and know that the measurements are appropriate to use for that decision? It is important to have some indicator of the quality of the results. You need to know how much you can rely on them. Also, there is an increasing pressure to reduce the effort made to obtain the measurement results. In some sectors, it is required that the measurements are made in an environment that ensures capability, such as being an accredited ISO/IEC 17025 facility. The concepts of measurement uncertainty, decision rules and fit-for-intended-use are focused on excellence through quality. The ASQ mission states “what needs to be done”. This presentation will explain the tools and how to use them that will achieve excellence through quality.
