The Long Island, NY section of the ASQ hosted an online event on June 18, 2020. The speaker was Ms. Saadia Yunus, who is is a licensed marriage and family therapist, trauma specialist, motivational speaker, and community leader based out of New York. She has 10+ years of experience working with individuals, couples, families, and groups. Saadia talked about mental health in the workplace and provided encouragement to those with mental health challenges to reach out for help. Following are some of the topics that were discussed during the presentation:
  • Signs and symptoms of mental health challenges in the workplace
  • An understanding of trauma and the impact of trauma on our mental health
  • Stressors within the work environment that contribute to mental health challenges
  • Strategies to address and relieve employee mental health challenges
  • Tips for employee self-awareness and healing programs as part of a workplace strategy
