NEW TITLE:  "
Using ROMP (Risk and Opportunity Management Process) to Exercise Control in the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act Cycle)
NEW PRESENTER:  Patrick Waddick
Presentation Description:   Although the ISO 9001:2015 standard addresses risk-based thinking and includes a "risk mindset" in the planning stages, experience has shown that very few people understand the rudiments of risks and opportunities, how to identify them, and how to use tools to manage both. This presentation will focus mainly on observations seen, and the efforts that have been made to enhance knowledge of risks, how to manage them, and how to take full advantage of opportunities.

Patrick Waddick is currently employed as a Quality Manager for Design Ready Controls, a leading manufacturer of industrial control panels, largely serving the HVAC industry. Patrick studied mathematics and industrial engineering in college at the University of Minnesota, with a concentration in the field of actuarial science. His true calling, however, was realized when the family ice maker stopped working. Patrick witnessed the repairs and asked many questions to build what would turn out to be a very large troubleshooting database. He pursued quality control and quality assurance ever since, including 15 years of experience in manufacturing and another 10 years in service quality, mostly working in roles where troubleshooting and inquisitiveness have served a purpose. Today's presentation will utilize lessons learned from his training, education, and experience as a Six Sigma Black Belt. Patrick has been a member of ASQ since 1998.
