ASQ Phoenix Message from the Chair May 1, 2023
Greetings ASQ Phoenix Section Members –
Happy May Day! The first of May inspires thoughts of sunnier skies and warmer weather for the Valley of the Sun. Before we know it, summer will be upon us as well as all of the festivities that come with it!
Before we get too far ahead with all of the summer vacation planning, celebrations, and pool parties, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on a big accomplishment announced during the month of April. Each year, ASQ Member Units have an opportunity to apply for section performance awards. These awards, referred to as Performance Excellence Program Awards (PEP) are given to a few ASQ Member Units who meet the criteria of the bronze, silver, or gold tiers. Specifically, the PEP Award Program was created to recognize member units for outstanding performance that supports ASQ’s thought leadership position and expands ASQ offerings to members and customers. The ASQ Phoenix Section received Silver Award recognition for a second year in a row, following our receipt of a Bronze award in 2020. These awards involve an extensive application process and exceptional effort by the member unit leadership teams. Congratulations to the ASQ Phoenix Section; to its Immediate Past Chair, Bob Mitchell; to all past and current member leaders on the ASQ Phoenix Section Leadership Team; and to each of the members who comprise the ASQ Phoenix Section! This award would not have been possible without the efforts of each of you. Thank you for all that you do for the Phoenix Section and for ASQ!
Finally, the Phoenix Section Leadership Team met for an appreciation dinner last month to recognize team accomplishments over the past year. During the gathering, we celebrated many goals achieved and discussed additional plans for the year ahead. It was a lively evening full of good banter, good food, and good friends. We look forward to sharing our upcoming plans with you as they come to fruition over the next few months.
