Thank you to everyone who joined our August South Atlantic Region Pulse Call and shared your questions, ideas and experiences.

This month, we did something a little different.

Instead of spending most of the call presenting information, we spent more time listening.

After several months of Roadshow conversations, GCC updates, blogs, emails and one-on-one discussions, we wanted to hear directly from our Member Leaders.

What is working? Where are Sections having challenges? Where can the Region provide better support?

We also took time to reconnect with the ASQ Mission and Vision and talk about how we bring that mission to life through our local Sections.

💬 What We Heard

Several common topics came up during the discussion:

✅ Volunteer recruitment and leadership continuity
✅ Election timelines and responsibilities
✅ Member engagement and participation
✅ Communicating the value of ASQ membership
✅ myASQ communication and visibility
✅ Business planning and Section sustainability
✅ Clearer guidance for each Member Leader role

One message came through clearly:

Strong leadership depends on support, communication and relationships.

Every Section is different. Some have larger leadership teams while others are working with only a few active volunteers.

That’s why clear communication matters.

We also heard that Member Leaders want practical tools and simple instructions. You want to know:

What do I need to do?
When do I need to do it?
Who is responsible?
Where do I find the information?

We also want to create more opportunities for Sections to learn from each other. Sometimes the best answer is simply hearing, “Here’s how another Section handled it.”

2027 Election Cycle Update

We reviewed the nomination and election process during the Pulse Call, including nominations, candidate eligibility, elections and leadership transitions.

As of September 1, 2026, the most recent election milestone was August 30, when Sections should have completed notifications to nominees regarding their status.

Now we move to the next step: preparing the final slate and circulating the electronic ballot to eligible Section members, if an election is needed. This step must be completed no later than September 15.

As we continue through the election process, we want every Section to be clear about:

What needs to happen.
When it needs to happen.
Who owns the next step.

Section Chairs, Nominating Committees and other Member Leaders should continue reviewing the election resources and communications provided through GCC and the South Atlantic Region Community.

For some Sections, additional support has also been provided.

To those Sections identified as having difficulty filling roles, having Chairs who have exceeded term limits by serving three or more years, or having a vacant Chair position, Component Relations created a single Volunteer Hub listing for the three elected roles: Chair, Treasurer and Secretary.

Those specific Sections were contacted directly by email. If your Section was included in this group, someone on your leadership team should have received a communication explaining the next steps.

If you believe your Section may have been included but can’t locate the email, or if you’re unsure about your election timeline or next step, please reach out so we can help confirm.

More Role-Specific Support

Another important message we heard was the need for communication and training that speaks directly to each Member Leader role.

A Treasurer needs different information from a Membership Chair.

A Secretary has different responsibilities from a Nominating Chair.

We hear you.

We’re looking at ways to provide more role-specific sessions and practical guidance so Member Leaders can better understand their responsibilities, deadlines, systems and resources.

The goal is simple:

Know what you’re responsible for. Know when it’s due. Know where to find help.

Follow important posts and resources in myASQ.

This includes resources such as the New Member Leader Reference Guide and important Region and GCC posts.

When you follow a resource, you can receive notifications when new information, comments or updates are posted.

Sometimes a small “how-to” makes a big difference.
